Now that pool building season is in full swing, let's talk about something that's often left out of your backyard fantasy- fountains, fireplaces, and other features that can add just as much if not more pizazz to your backyard sanctuary as your pool.
Okay, we're not talking about the kind of extravagant fountains that you see in the squares of great Italian cities. We're also not talking about a birdbath, either. When we say fountain, we usually mean something a little more like this:
Fountains can add a level of serene calm to your yard with minimal maintenance costs, and depending on your style and size, minimal usage of space. You could have a separate fountain, if your yard will allow for it, or you can include a fountain in the design of your pool and/or spa.
As we enjoy rather mild winters here, an outdoor fireplace or fire pit is not something you may think of initially when you are dreaming up your ultimate pool. However, there truly is nothing like a toasty fire while you drip dry from a dip in the pool, or better yet a roaring blaze in the dead of winter while you gaze over from your spa. Depending on your budget, you might even consider incorporating a fireplace into your pool design, or as part of an outdoor pavilion. We can easily build a fireplace or fire pit into your deck area; just make sure to discuss this idea with your builder of choice.
Fountains and fireplaces are not the only options for jazzing up your yard. At Natural Stone Pools, we often incorporate decorative walls and columns with scuppers, allowing water to quietly and mesmerizingly pour or trickle into the pool. You can also utilize a "fire feature"- a bowl, wall, or torch-like device that uses gas to light up your yard with a gorgeous, controlled blaze. When done right, this can transform your garden, pool, spa, or outdoor living area into a tropical paradise.
